A bit of a miss-match. Unfortunately, we had to field our C and D teams against their Bs. We started with our D team in a game of touch rugby. The boys started slowly and were on the back foot early on in the game, but they started to move the ball better and find open spaces. Our one try in this game came from a very pleasing team effort and Benny finished the action in the corner. That was a really good rugby moment. We then put on our C team to play a game of contact rugby. We started well and made it difficult for them. But, they found some easy gaps in our defence and scored tries from individual runs, which were devastating blows for the boys. However, they carried on working hard and were eventually rewarded for their efforts with a try concluded by Maxx, but which started with a great team effort. We were playing against a stronger team, but we hopefully learned that we needed to challenge rucks more quickly in order to get possession of the ball and that we have to make strong tackles to avoid conceding soft tries. A bit frustrating, but plenty to learn and practise from this experience.
