It was definitely a game of two halves. In the first 10 minutes, we looked despondent and at times, a little nervous of the ball. We played as if we were already losing. A mistake in defence led to Pinewood taking the lead with a soft goal. We weren't playing with any determination and silly mistakes and wayward passes meant our heads were going down. A well taken goal by Jake E meant that at half time, we went in 1-1.

The look on everyone's faces at the halftime team talk, it was if we had already lost.

Your attitude means everything. I couldn't change it for them, they had to do it themselves. They had to drive forward, be determined in attack, trust each other, give those important passes and knuckle down.

So, something clicked. They looked like a different team in the second half. They drove forwards, they worked hard for each other, their heads were up and soon another goal came from a beautifully struck short corner from Jake E again. The rest of the half followed in the same vein. A disallowed goal for Pinewood (short corner that didn't hit the backboard) gave us even more vigour and Jake followed on with another two goals.

A 4-1 win at the final whistle. Finally, something for the boys to celebrate. I told them to bottle that feeling. To remember how to feel positive and to remember that if you believe, then the rest will follow.

A great game from which I hope they finally believe it when I say, that your attitude means everything.

Oh, and the 'beers' are on Jake tonight!
